What is yoga…
Yoga is the vehicle that takes us home to ourselves. Through the study and practice of this powerful tradition the arbitrary boundaries we've created between the self and 'other' start to dissolve. We transform from self-centred and goal-oriented behaviour, to a true soul and heart connection to all beings. By moving from the superficial identification to our limited selves into the felt sense and living embodiment of our true nature we begin to see and know our interwoven relationship with all that is.
As we are each different expressions of the one loving Consciousness this interconnection sparks a desire to support and help others. We begin to understand that what is good for one is good for all. Equally, what is damaging for one is also damaging for all. Yoga allows us to look at the many and see ourselves and contemplate how we are showing up in the world. We start to take responsibility for what is pouring out through our intensions, word and actions.
The internal forces that are awakened in the individual through this practice initiating growth, evolution, and healing extends far beyond the boundaries of that persons skin. It is a natural progression to begin to see ourselves as an instrument able to create great change. Our present day challenges extend from our collective ignorance of who we truly our and our interconnectedness with all of life. This ignorance is not a worldly one. The most intelligent of people experience this also. It is a crisis of consciousness that can be healed through the practice of Yoga.
Yoga with Aimee
My most potent awakening on this path came through the meeting Tara Judelle in 2013. Tara’s trainings, deeply enriched by the teachings of Saiva Tantra, felt like a homecoming, and an introduction into incredible map towards the discovery of my true nature – the deepest promise of yoga.
“We have the same technology the ancient yogis had in their pursuit of self realisation: our bodies. Practising yoga dissolves boundaries, and connects us to nature, other beings and with Consciousness itself. We move from the suffering created by misperceptions, to the truth of our profound relationship with life.”
It is my experience that this practice, and its many limbs and lineages, is so much more than an individual pursuit to master postures. It's the catalyst for an upshift in our awareness as individuals, pouring back into the unified whole as a service to humanity. My job as a teacher is to put myself out of a job. As in, to direct you back to the internal prompting of your own being: your inner teacher. To offer you the opportunity to be heart referenced rather than externally referenced. This is your birthright as a sovereign being and a child of the Divine.
My offerings are imbued with my training in embryology and its influence on movement and my continuing study of the text of Saiva Tantra with Tara Judelle, Paul Muller-Ortega, Brad Hay and Christopher Wallis. Recently I felt a deepening of experience and understanding of these teachings through my study with Mark Breadner and my ongoing mentorship with him. It is my absolute delight to share the science of yoga I have learnt, and continue to learn, under his guidance.
